Book Overview
Warfighter’s Guide to Logistics, Personnel Services, & Health Services Support
Sustainment is the provision of logistics, personnel services, and health services support necessary to support full spectrum operations until mission accomplishment. The provision of sustainment is an integrated process (people, systems, materiel, health services, and other support) inextricably linked to operations. When optimized, sustainment operations ensure strategic and operational reach and endurance for forces in any operational environment.
From a strategic perspective sustainment builds combat readiness, delivers a combat ready force to the combatant commander as part of the joint force, and maintains combat power and endurance across the depth of the operational area. At the operational and tactical levels, sustainment is provided by highly trained modular sustainment forces, integrated and synchronized with the operational plan. Logisticians today must be prepared to conduct a wide-ranging array of concurrent operations to support deployment, employment, sustainment, redeployment, and reconstitution.
