Our Digital SMARTbooks can be accessed anywhere/anytime via a web browser and an internet connection, without any required software to download — even on GOVERNMENT and WORK computers — via our web viewer!

Web Viewer Instructions

All of your eBooks are available anytime/anywhere! Return to our website, under the Account icon in the top right corner select Downloads to see your list of purchased eBooks. Simply click the green ‘Read Online’ button next to your book.

2. Digital Download (up to five devices)

Downloading digital SMARTbooks for offline access on your computer/device is quite easy — just install the free viewer software, license your device, and then click on the link on our website to download your eBook. Our Digital SMARTbooks are authorized to a user’s ID and can be used on to up to five computers/devices via free Safeguard viewer software (powered by Locklizard).

A. Install Viewer

B. Activate License

Once the Safeguard PDC Viewer software is installed, activate the license file (.llv) attached to your emailed instructions (You can also access your license in your account in your Downloads.)

C. Download eBook

Return to our website, under the Account icon in the top right corner select Downloads to see your list of purchased eBooks. Click on the green ‘Download eBook’ button to download the eBook file (.pdc) to your licensed device. It will automatically open in the Safeguard PDC viewer. (You will have to do this step for each of your licensed devices, see below.)

Use your eBook on Additional Devices (up to Five)

Our Digital SMARTbooks can used on up to five devices per user; each separate device requires it’s own license. Click only once to download one license to a device, or you will overwrite an existing license. If a device is already authorized/licensed, you can skip this step to add additional books! (And remember, you can always access your eBook anywhere/anytime on any device through your web browser and an internet connection!)

Digital SMARTbooks are Fully Interactive

Find your information quickly and intuitively! In addition to pan and zoom, our table of contents, A-B-C, 1-2-3 charts, and index are fully linked and interactive. Alternatively, users can access use the extensive bookmarked table of contents to navigate quickly.

Keyword Search

Use the “search” feature to lookup keywords. Select a term you are looking for, then jump directly to that page. 

Screenshot Printing

Need a copy of a particular chart or diagram while at a course or on TDY? Print select individual pages, charts and checklists for easy access using your device’s screenshot feature. (Our eBook files are compressed for optimized web-viewing making some charts and complex diagrams difficult to read. Screenshot printing offers a solution, but is not a replacement for our high-resolution print editions. Bundled-discount ”Paperback+Digital” pricing is available!)

Highlight, Underline

Users can highlight and underline text to quickly return to and mark important sections (not possible in the Web Viewer; only in the downloaded files).
