Dr. Christopher E. Larsen is a warrior-scholar with 30 years experience mentoring fellow warrior-scholars in competencies of leadership and tactical operations. With a PhD in learning technologies and an emphasis in cognitive science of educational psychology, Christopher’s research interest regard the manner by which warriors establish a novice-to-expert trajectory through learning. His most recent research explores the tacit knowledge inherent of masterful leadership decision-making through the theoretical framework of the cognitive apprenticeship model. Much of this work is based in his experience as a senior Infantry NCO in the US Army. Christopher served nine years in light, air assault, and mechanized regiments. Since then his assignments included an appointment as a military adviser to the New Iraqi Army maneuver battalions under the Coalition Military Assistance Training Teams; as an instructional designer at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College; and as a combat survival instructor for the U.S. Army Human Terrain System. Christopher is the owner of a not-for-profit expeditionary leadership school, One Shepherd, a division of TacComp Media, LLC. One Shepherd’s mission is to provide the leadership education through decision-making in immersive tactical simulation. As CEO Christopher provides strategic vision, guides curriculum development, mentors staff officers and cadre instructors, and overseas the procurement and management of institutional resources. One Shepherd training infuses various military doctrine – most notably that of the U.S. Armed Forces, as well as emergent doctrine of Red Team Army, plus Insurgent and Guerilla Forces of the Hybrid Threat. Christopher’s latest work with The Lightning Press is The OPFOR SMARTbook: Red Team Army, co-authored with Norman Wade. This title is the first of a three-part series spanning the breadth of tactical and operational doctrine of opposing forces.
